🔒 THE VAULT
A genuinely rare piece of camouflage history, and a complete matched set — jacket and pants together, which rarely surface as a pair. This reversible Gore-Tex system was produced during the early days of the Desert Camouflage Uniform (DCU) program, when an experimental reversible day/night garment was issued to U.S. Special Operations Forces in limited numbers for Gulf War-era desert operations. Multiple contractors are known to have produced this exact SOCOM-issued design — including Adventure Tech, Inc. and FMI (Falls Manufacturing Inc.) — and this set reflects that mixed-contractor production: the jacket is tagged U.S. Cavalry, while the pants are tagged FMI / Falls Manufacturing Inc.
The outer shell wears the classic three-color DCU "coffee stain" desert pattern, while the reverse features the rarely-seen Desert Night Camouflage (DNC) — a two-tone grid pattern specifically designed to help disrupt early night-vision detection.
Size: Large
Features:
- Fully reversible: three-color DCU desert camo on one side, Desert Night Camouflage (DNC) grid pattern on the other — jacket and pants both
- Genuine Gore-Tex waterproof/breathable membrane construction
- Jacket tagged: Gore-Tex and U.S. Cavalry
- Pants tagged: Gore-Tex and FMI (Falls Manufacturing Inc.) — a documented, independently-confirmed contractor for this same SOCOM-issued reversible system
- Historically tied to a limited-issue Special Operations experimental program during the DCU rollout, Gulf War era (circa late 1980s–early 1990s)
- Complete matched set: pants share the identical DNC grid pattern as the jacket; the DCU side of the pants runs slightly more yellow-toned than the jacket's DCU, consistent with separate dye lots typical of this era's production
Condition/rarity note: This is considered a "grail" piece among military camouflage collectors due to its limited production and the short operational life of the DNC pattern. A complete, correctly matched jacket-and-pants set is significantly harder to find than either piece alone.
Disclaimer: Given the age and rarity of this piece, condition and full provenance should be evaluated individually by the buyer — inspect tags, stitching, and pattern details closely to confirm authenticity, and note that vintage Gore-Tex laminate can be prone to delamination over time. (No signs of delamination - Verified)
